Shahi Chicken Korma and Wheat naan

500 gm chicken 
1 big onion - cut into slices
puree of 1 big tomato
1 tsp ginger garlic paste
3 tsp oil
1/2 tsp caraway seeds
1/2 tsp dry fenugreek leaves
1/4 cup whipping cream
salt to taste

For marination

1/4 cup yogurt
paste of 6-8 cashews
1 tsp lime juice
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp red chili powder
1/2 tsp coriander powder
1/2 tsp cumin powder
1/2 tsp garam masala


  • Take chicken pieces in a mixing bowl, add all above ingredients and mix well. Let the chicken marinate for about 1 hour in a refrigerator. 
  • Heat 1 tsp of oil in a pan. Add onion slices and saute till onion becomes slight brown in color. Let it cool down completely. Make a smooth puree by adding little water. Keep it aside.
  • Heat 2 tsp oil in a pan. Add caraway seeds and pinch of asafoetida. Add onion puree and saute for a minute. Add marinated chicken and salt to taste. Mix well. Cover the pan and let it cook for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add tomato puree and let chicken cook on medium heat for about 8-10 minutes. Keep stirring in between.
  • Finally add fenugreek leaves and whipping cream. Let gravy simmer on low heat for about 2-3 minutes. Switch off the heat and serve hot with chapati, naan or plain rice.
Wheat naan

for making 4 naan


1 cup wheat flour
1 tsp yeast
1 tsp sugar
1 egg
1 cup lukewarm milk
1/4 tsp salt
2 tsp crushed garlic

  • Sieve the flour. Add oil and salt to taste. Remove all the lumps.Keep it aside. Beat egg in mixing bowl. Add lukewarm milk, sugar and yeast. Mix well and cover bowl with cotton towel. Let it rest for 10 minutes. 
  • After 10 minutes yeast will get activated. Start kneading the dough by adding little flour at a time. Apply few drops of oil and cover the dough with cotton towel and Let its rest for about 1 hour in a warn place.
  • Preheat the oven to 550 degrees F. After 1 hour dough will become double in size. Punch dough little bit and knead the dough gently for 1-2 minutes. Make 4 equal sized balls and roll them gently. Sprinkle some crushed garlic. Stretch naan little bit and place it on a greased pan. Bake the naan in a oven for about 3 minutes. Flip the naan to other side and again bake it for 2 minutes. Keep an eye on it. Bake for extra time if needed.
  • Serve hot by applying some ghee on top.
